Jun 18th
I started off the 3rd day of E3 checking out Sony’s new Motion Controller, entitled “Move”. It was basically a remote with a lightbulb on the end, and everyone was proudly touting buttons on the front AND the back, blowing everyone’s mind at Sony and surprising no one who has ever played a Wii. So, does it do what the Wii does? It does. Does it do more? It can.
One of the games I tried was Kung-Fu Rider, which bordered on absolutely terrible to why would you play this? A seperate review of that will be showing up, because I did want to leave POSITIVE impressions regarding the Move, and The Fight was the one to do it. It begins simply enough, you hold two wands and box the other guy in the face. Of course, everyone at the show had already tried that. I needed to throw some NEW moves into it. I only got the last half of the fight on film, but rest assured that my smile and the people laughing behind me indicates that all the ridiculous motions I used to fight someone in Cell Block Whatever DID work. Basically, all you have to do in the game is calibrate the two controllers and start swinging.
I would totally play this again, because the moves translated so well that the sheer ridiculous entertainment value alone is something I can get behind. If Sony can get a more involved idea of this that goes beyond boxing people, I’m sold.

So the original game of Starcraft is more than 10 years old. It is considered by many to be the BEST RTS games ever made. (I agree with that statement) It has also been one of the top sellers for all those years! In South Korea the game is still so popular that they have stadiums filled with people watching the championships! It has prime time TV shows dedicated to it! Well in July our sequel is FINALLY here!!! Check out the commericial!
I think we should make a RAVAGE.COM team and kick some ass! Who is with me?

Wow. That’s about all there is to say with the short time I’ve spent with Nintendo’s new little handheld, the latest in the line of Dual Screened portable systems. To say that it’s an upgrade is an understatement, as the system has noticeable changes on almost all fronts. First, and foremost, is the top screen. It’s bigger, it’s better, and with a higher resolution comes a much more crisp picture. It also helps that the systems power has been ramped up an incredible amount going from N64 quality graphics to those ranging inbetween the power of the Wii and an Xbox 360. No, really.
The system can throw out a tremendous amount of texturing effects now, doubling it’s beauty with a much higher polygon count, and with the advent of these better graphics comes the opportunity to show them in a way not yet explored — 3D. And the best part of it all is that it actually works.

So we started off the morning watching an unbelievable Nintendo press conference, and after basking in a boatload of great announcements and game showcasing, we made our way to the show.
After taking time to wait in a 15 minute long line, we made our way into a closed off section of Nintendos booth to try the game. There was an intital scare after a very wonkey press demonstration this morning, but my fears were immediately put to rest after trying it for myself.
The controls aren’t 1:1 in the respect that you can just turn the controller around and give link a slice of his own abdomen, but it worked far better than I ever thought it would. His hands mimicked mine as I tilted the remote in many directions and my vertical, horizontal, and diagonal slices were replicated onscreen.
New items like the whip and beetle worked just as well as I could hope as well, controlling the beetle being fairly akin to flying the plane in Wii Sports Resort.
Combat was flashy and fun, having to concentrate much more heavily on not just an opening in the enemies defences, but in the position of their own shielding so that you can attack an actual sweet spot.
Overall, it makes me wish to know more about world exploration, horseback riding, and other item elements that will now have a brand new tehnique. Great stuff though, and I hope to go back tomorrow to try it again!

So, during our long and dirty trip from Albuquerque to LA, I had a chance to watch the Microsoft briefing from the road on my phone. Sadly, I wasn’t sure if the news they brought was what the industry needed. Now, don’t get me wrong, I think there are elements of motion controlled gaming that have successfully found their way into the grand scheme and is a lot of fun, but it still comes with making sure you understand who you are marketing yourself towards. Showing off gears of war 3 and then getting little Asian girls to dance to Justin bieber is probably a bit more of a disparity than even Nintendos ridiculous show moments.
I have a strong feeling that sonys move is going to be the same, complete with campy actors and bad demonstrations, mirroring nintendos own from gears ago.
Again, I think that it’s important to know that motion control has a place, but it never should be a standard — just an optimal alternative, what I also feel about 3D.
Sadly, few of microsofts games ended up being surprises, and the exclusives that we already knew were exclusives came with few surprises.
Not sure just what took look forward to for the end of the year, save for some XBLA content that may appear elsewhere.
So, with timed exclusives on call of duty packs (did they say how long for?) and a new super camera to help us watch sports online together, Microsoft has got some fairly varied bases covered, but are they the right ones?
I don’t know about the price of Natal, a name I still like more than Kinect, but I don’t know if I’m sold just yet. If I get a chance to play, I’ll let you know if it may be worth the price.
The nintendo presser is coming up soon, so time to watch that! Until then…!

And what could we possibly be thinking about this week? Turns out there’s a surprise gaming convention in LA that 45,000 people are attending. In an underground club called The Convention Center, they all meet up and look at the hobby of gaming, acting on behalf of millions upon millions across the planet, and using E3 as an excuse to collectively (and hopefully) blow our minds.
So, what is it that everyone might be looking most forward to? There are a ton of known games to be shown, like Microsofts Natal and Sonys Move, but Nintendo also has flagship titles like Zelda and their new 3DS system to appear at the show.
While a lot of goodies are shoe ins for display, is there anything you have been hoping for? New tech to show up and wow us, an announcement to throw a new sequel in your favorite franchise? A mystery comeback from Sega with a brand new console?
Being the die hard Nintendo nerd I am, I’m still rooting for a sequel to Kid Icarus, and I think the 3DS may be the perfect time for one to be revealed. However, I’ve also heard rumblings about a remake of The Ocarina of Time, which would fit even better on the 3DS, and would also insure that everyone in the universe would buy them at a 1:1 ratio, with women buying as many as they have shoes, insuring in great sales.
I’d also like a new F-Zero entry, as it’s one of my favorites on the Nintendo side, but i’ve hears plenty of “we will see” remarks from Nintendo reps who wisely keep their mouths from spilling show secrets.
So, what do you THINK will be there, and what would you most like to see? Hopefully the thoughts will coincide

Michael Johnston must have been bored and decided to remake Zelda II: The Adventures of Link not new levels or a new story but redone as a 3-D first person shooter and you can even play it online!
This game was incredibly fun to make. I am a fan of the original NES game and love its innovations and clever game design. But as we all know, Zelda games are long and complex. When starting this project I had to choose very carefully what I had time to accomplish if this game was ever to see the light of day. As a result I decided to remake the beginning of the game up to the end of the first boss. This seemed simple enough, but I knew it would be a challenge. This is the result of my learning programming for the first time and a labor of love making this game in 3D.

So one of my friends on facebook, (You know who you are Miss Pinkhair! I will hide who you are until you come and post stuff on here!) She posted the new trailer for Little Big Planet 2! For those of you who don’t know, Little Big Planet is an exclusive game to the PS3 and PSP. This is by far and away the best game on the system, it is original, and addictive. If you have a PS3 and are currently using it only as a BluRay player, get off your butt and go buy the Game of the Year Edition of Little Big Planet and see what it is all about! It will be the best $30 you have spent in awhile. We will wait here………
OK I am assuming you have done that now, and have been having fun. Don’t worry there is more to come! Here is a trailer for Little Big Planet 2! (It will be released later this year)
Thanks Miss Pink Hair.
