So we started off the morning watching an unbelievable Nintendo press conference, and after basking in a boatload of great announcements and game showcasing, we made our way to the show.

After taking time to wait in a 15 minute long line, we made our way into a closed off section of Nintendos booth to try the game. There was an intital scare after a very wonkey press demonstration this morning, but my fears were immediately put to rest after trying it for myself.

The controls aren’t 1:1 in the respect that you can just turn the controller around and give link a slice of his own abdomen, but it worked far better than I ever thought it would. His hands mimicked mine as I tilted the remote in many directions and my vertical, horizontal, and diagonal slices were replicated onscreen.

New items like the whip and beetle worked just as well as I could hope as well, controlling the beetle being fairly akin to flying the plane in Wii Sports Resort.

Combat was flashy and fun, having to concentrate much more heavily on not just an opening in the enemies defences, but in the position of their own shielding so that you can attack an actual sweet spot.

Overall, it makes me wish to know more about world exploration, horseback riding, and other item elements that will now have a brand new tehnique. Great stuff though, and I hope to go back tomorrow to try it again!
